Andalucia - South of Spain

Andalucia FlagAndalucia is a large region of Southern Spain covering the provinces of Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaen, Malaga and Sevilla and incorporating the Costa de la Luz, the Costa del Sol, the Costa Tropical and the Costa Almeria although these last two are really part of the Costa del Sol. Stretching from near Ayamonte in the province of Huelva all the way along the Southern coast almost as far as SanJose which is just over the border. This region of Spain carries the highest density of foreigners who come to live and enjoy the lifestyle and of course the wonderful sunny climate. Andalucian property varies from the typical holiday apartments on the coast to quiet remote farmhouses plus everything in between, from villas on golf courses Andalucia has many of those, to fabulously expensive villas and apartments in places such as Marbella and Puerto Banuz. Property in Andalucia also varies from very inexpensive to ‘mega bucks’, Marbella villas costing millions of Euros are not uncommon.

Andalucia offers just about everything that anyone wanting a particular way of life is looking for, getting away from the Costa del Sol and it’s associated tourist industry there is skiing in the winter in the Sierras with the city of Granada on hand offering all that city lovers could possibly need. There are rivers teeming with fish, vast stretches of open countryside and beautiful mountains ideal for walkers or horse lovers and all of this without a heavy population so it doesn’t take much to find real peace and quiet. To put things into some form of perspective, Spain as a whole is more than twice the size of the UK whilst carrying only two thirds of the population, imagine the UK with around 44,000,000 less people and that will give you some idea of the population density of Spain of which of course Andalucia is part.

For those with a preference for the coast but not for the tourist areas take a look at property on Costa de la Luz, it’s an area that has not been over developed and has some wonderful long, empty, sandy beaches. Get in soon as Costa de la Luz property is rising faster than many areas as more and more people discover its charms.

Andalucia is served by six major airports Almeria, Cordoba, Gibraltar (UK only) Granada, Jerez, Malaga and Seville, so flights to Andalucia are no problem and with many of the budget airlines operating here, cheap flights to Spain are easy to find.

Andalucia, even the name rolls beautifully off the tongue.

Barcelona has a very different vibe than Andalucía. Andalucía has Moorish influence and Flamenco heartbeat. Book a hotel in Barcelona.
